oh how i love this place! as do my partners in crime for the silly thanksgiving holiday evening. maritime anything is all kinds of awesome, plus being able to chuck your peanut shells/aka dinner on the floor is a plus. they make a perfect stiff drink and i've had the shrimp scampi on a previous occasion...delicious!

The Spine & Tooth of Santo Guerro by Al Farrow = Magnificent! I'm in love...would've stuck it in my purse and made a run for it if only it were smaller and didn't weigh more than me...oh and if there wasn't the whole going to jail thing. This is a must see, the pictures from my phone do not do this piece justice.

saturday night i scooped up my girl B (pictured below) to get our artsy fartsy on. we made our way to HVW8 to check out the opening of raif adelberg's f**k i love you los angeles.

familiar with mr. adelberg's clothing designs (dude channels early vivienne westwood with a twist. if you know me, you know my heart swoons for that lady...needless to say i'm a fan of raif's sensibility.) and having seen some of his artwork on the interwebs, i was pretty excited to see the show.

the night was full of good people, fun times and of course art.

the lag time is ridiculous

music that is hard, fast and loud seems to have taken over my life lately and i couldn't be happier. about a week and a half ago i went to check out, killing california, bison bc and helmet .

heshfest recap

went to a little heshfest last weekend. main reason being, i wanted to see the cult. the day was highly entertaining & we danced like gitty little kiddies.

walked upon the edge of no escape...

i've been on a kick or maybe it's just this week's obsession but allow me to gush for a moment...joy division is one of those bands that i can listen to over and over again. i can listen to them when i'm happy or sad and each song takes me to a different place as they have been a part of my life for longer than i can remember now.

whenever life is feeling a little off, she's lost control begins to feel like my theme song. shadowplay, memories of wearing black, dancing and helter skelter. and don't get me started about love will tear us apart...really there just isn't a bad song on the unknown pleasures album. then you have digital, dead souls...the closer album which is heartbreakingly wonderful...yeah, to say i love this band and their music would be an understatement.

built on pure punk rock mentality, their songs are all so sophisticatedly beautiful yet simplistic at the same time...down right perfection. they are now and will always remain in my top 5 bands of all time.





on a final note, if you haven't seen the joy division documentary that came out a few years ago, go find it and watch it! seriously, if you even sort of like music or just an interesting story it's worth the watch.

all hallows' eve

My favorite holidays are upon us, Halloween and Dia De los Muertas. There's just something about this time of year along with the meaning and celebratory feeling of the two holidays I just love. Carving pumpkins, thinking of and maybe not always following through with extravagant costume ideas, giving honor to those that are no longer with me, all things that bring a little extra joy to my life.

So here's what just might be the best Halloween song...also was a big fave back in my Helter Skelter and Perversion days.
